EU formally adopt the new CAP; Spain to get €37,000 M for farmers and €8,000 M for rural development

The countries of the European Union adopted on Thursday the common agricultural policy (CAP) for the period that will apply from January 2023, with which the bloc wants to increase the contribution of the agricultural sector to the fight against climate change and creates a new management model based on national strategic plans. The CAP reform process has taken three years of work between member states and European institutions.

Thirty Measures Against Depopulation In Spain

Last week, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez implemented a package of 30 measures to tackle the challenge of depopulation and demography in Spain. Sánchez is firmly commited to cohesion, equality between territories and the creation of opportunities “where they do not exist.” He has already appointed an executive commission to lead the project.

Rural Spain faces a new electoral scenario

But it also has an extensive rural space, given that around 80% of its territory has an average demographic density of 18.4 persons/km2, with more than half od its municipalities in serious risk of depopulation.
